About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Upgrade your M8 Harley-Davidson Softail with the Progressive 465 Series high-pressure gas monotube shocks. These shocks are built to deliver consistent, high-performance suspension, transforming your ride. Each unit is hand-built, tuned, and dyno-tested to ensure peak performance and reliability.

Why riders pick this

  • High-pressure gas monotube design for consistent damping
  • 46mm bore with deflective disc damping
  • Five-position rebound adjuster for fine-tuning
  • Available in Standard or Heavy-Duty spring rates
  • Hand-built, tuned, and dyno-tested for quality

The Progressive 465 Series shocks feature a robust 46mm bore with deflective disc damping, providing exceptional control and a smooth ride over varied terrain. With a 5-position rebound adjuster, you can easily dial in your preferred damping characteristics. These shocks come with either standard or heavy-duty spring rates, allowing you to match your setup to your riding style and load.

Engineered for Performance and Durability

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
