About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Transform your Harley-Davidson M8 Softail's ride with the Progressive 465 Series R.A.P. remote adjustable preload shocks. These high-performance monotube shocks feature a 46mm bore with deflective disc damping and hand-tuned valving, delivering exceptional control and comfort. The integrated R.A.P. system allows for quick, tool-free preload adjustments, making it easy to dial in your suspension.

Why riders pick this

  • Remote Adjustable Preload (R.A.P.) for quick, tool-free adjustments
  • 46mm bore high-pressure gas monotube design
  • Five-position rebound damping adjuster
  • Hand-built, tuned, and dyno-tested
  • Available in Standard or Heavy-Duty spring rates

The Progressive 465 Series R.A.P. shocks are engineered for riders who demand both performance and convenience. The remote adjustable preload (R.A.P.) system, with its hand-adjustment knob, lets you quickly adapt to changes in load or riding style. Coupled with a 5-position rotatable rebound damping adjuster, you have precise control over your Softail's suspension characteristics, ensuring an optimized ride every time.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
