Frequently Asked Questions

Can I adjust these shocks without removing the wheels?

Yes — compression, rebound, and preload all adjust via hand-accessible knobs and the spring preload adjuster. Height adjustment requires minor removal.

What makes the 990 different from other adjustable shocks?

The dual-circuit deflective disc damping and high-pressure monotube deliver consistent feel throughout the full stroke. Most shocks have dead zones or unpredictable transitions.

Can I change ride height on the fly?

Yes — the 0.4 inch adjustable height eyelet lets you dial in ride height without special tools, though you may need to roll the bike to reset weight.

Do I need a tuner with these shocks?

No tuner required. Suspension adjustment is purely mechanical via the external knobs and preload adjuster.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
