Frequently Asked Questions

Can I adjust these shocks after installation?

Yes. All adjustments — compression, rebound, preload, and height — are made via accessible hand knobs without tools.

What makes the 990 different from stock shocks?

The dual-circuit deflective disc damping and independent compression/rebound adjustability let you tune for your weight, riding style, and road conditions.

Do I need to adjust preload for my weight?

Yes. Progressive recommends setting preload based on your weight and cargo. Hand adjustability lets you dial it in without disassembly.

Will these improve my Harley's handling?

The monotube design and dual-damping circuits improve stability and reduce harshness compared to stock, especially on uneven pavement.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
