About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Unleash the full potential of your Harley-Davidson with Progressive 990 Series shocks. These high-performance monotube dampers offer a level of adjustability that transforms your ride, allowing you to precisely tune your suspension for any condition or riding style. Experience consistent, fade-free performance whether you're cruising the boulevard or carving canyons.

Why riders pick this

  • Fully adjustable high and low-speed compression damping
  • Precise rebound damping control
  • Hand-adjustable spring preload for sag setup
  • Adjustable ride height to fine-tune your stance
  • High-pressure gas monotube design for consistent performance
  • Lightweight aluminum body with linear-rate coil spring

The Progressive 990 Sport series shocks are engineered to give V-twin riders unparalleled control over their bike's handling. Featuring a high-pressure monotube design with deflective disc damping, these shocks deliver consistent performance across the full range of suspension travel. Every aspect of your ride is adjustable, letting you fine-tune the feel to match your weight, riding style, and road conditions.

Dial In Your Ride with Precision Adjustments

  • Complete on-bike adjustability for high and low-speed compression
  • Fine-tune rebound damping to eliminate pogo-ing
  • Hand-adjustable spring preload makes sag setup a breeze
  • Adjustable ride height eyelet for dialing in your stance
  • Lightweight aluminum body and linear-rate coil spring construction

Engineered for Performance and Control

Gone are the days of a one-size-fits-all suspension. The 990 Series shocks are built for the rider who demands more. From the high-pressure gas monotube construction to the deflective disc damping, every component works in harmony to provide a stable, predictable, and comfortable ride. Pair these with a quality fork upgrade to completely transform your Harley's handling characteristics.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
