About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Transform your Harley-Davidson Dyna's handling with Progressive 990 Sport series shocks. Featuring high-pressure monotube construction with deflective disc damping, these shocks provide unparalleled control and adjustability. Riders can dial in their preferred feel with independent rebound, compression, preload, and ride-height controls, optimizing performance without sacrificing comfort or reliability.

Why riders pick this

  • Adjustable High & Low Speed compression damping
  • Adjustable rebound damping for precise control
  • Hand-adjustable spring preload
  • 0.4 inch adjustable height eyelet
  • High-pressure monotube with deflective disc damping

The Progressive 990 Sport shocks are engineered for Dyna riders who demand precision and customization from their suspension. The advanced monotube design ensures consistent damping throughout the entire stroke, providing a stable and predictable ride in various conditions. With a focus on fine-tuning, these shocks allow you to adapt your bike's handling to your specific riding style, whether you're commuting or pushing the limits on winding roads.

  • High-pressure monotube with deflective disc damping
  • Lightweight aluminum body construction

Engineered for the Aggressive Dyna Rider

These shocks are more than just an upgrade; they're a statement of intent for Dyna owners who prioritize performance. The ability to independently adjust high and low-speed compression, rebound, and preload means you can perfectly match the shocks to your weight, riding style, and local terrain. The lightweight aluminum body and linear rate coil spring contribute to reduced unsprung weight, further enhancing the responsiveness and agility of your Dyna. Get ready to experience a new level of control and confidence.

Common questions

What makes these 990 shocks different from stock Dyna shocks?

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
