About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Elevate your Harley-Davidson Dyna's ride with Progressive 990 Sport series shocks, engineered for superior performance and complete adjustability. These shocks feature a high-pressure monotube design with deflective disc damping, ensuring consistent handling throughout the entire suspension stroke. With independent rebound, high-speed, and low-speed compression knobs, you can perfectly dial in the feel for your weight and aggressive riding style.

Why riders pick this

  • Adjustable High & Low Speed compression damping
  • Adjustable rebound damping for precise control
  • Adjustable ride height (0.4 inch range)
  • Hand-adjustable spring preload
  • High-pressure monotube with deflective disc damping

The Progressive 990 Sport shocks are the ultimate upgrade for Dyna riders seeking precise control and a customizable ride. The advanced monotube design maintains optimal damping performance, preventing fade even under demanding conditions. This means your Dyna will respond predictably, giving you confidence whether you're hitting the twisties or navigating city streets. The ability to fine-tune every aspect of your suspension allows for an unparalleled connection to the road.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
