About Progressive

Progressive Suspension has focused exclusively on American V-twin suspension since 1982, and its Monotube fork cartridges and 400/970/970G shock series are among the most common upgrades on baggers and Softails. For most riders the stock rear shock is the single worst part on the bike — this is the fix.

Unleash the full potential of your Harley-Davidson Dyna with Progressive 990 Sport Series shocks. These high-performance shocks feature fully adjustable high and low speed compression, rebound damping, and preload, giving you unparalleled control. Built with a high-pressure monotube and deflective disc damping, they deliver consistent feel and improved stability through every turn.

Why riders pick this

  • Fully adjustable High & Low Speed compression damping
  • Adjustable rebound and hand-adjustable preload
  • 0.4 inch adjustable ride height eyelet
  • High-pressure monotube with deflective disc damping
  • Lightweight aluminum body with linear rate coil spring

The Progressive 990 Sport Series shocks are engineered for Dyna riders who demand precision tuning and superior ride quality. With easily accessible knobs and hand-adjustable eyelets, you can quickly dial in your suspension to match your riding style, load, and road conditions. The deflective disc damping technology ensures a consistent and controlled feel throughout the entire suspension stroke, enhancing both comfort and performance.

Complete Control Over Your Dyna's Ride

  • Adjustable High & Low Speed compression damping
  • Adjustable rebound damping for precise control
  • Hand-adjustable spring preload for varying loads
  • 0.4 inch adjustable height eyelet for ride height tuning
  • High-pressure gas monotube design with deflective disc damping

Optimized for Aggressive Riding

Constructed with a lightweight aluminum body and a linear rate coil spring, the 990 Sport Series not only improves performance but also reduces unsprung weight. The captured jounce bumper provides smooth bottoming resistance, further refining the ride. These shocks are a must-have upgrade for any Dyna owner looking to transform their bike's handling, stability, and overall responsiveness, making it ready for aggressive riding or long-distance comfort.

Stiff

The shocks seem super nice, but they are incredibly stiff. Turns out they’re 130/200 top to bottom. Would be nice to have an option to choose your spring rate. Couldn’t find it in the description either. Have them installed on a 1998 sportster 1200 by the way. I’m about 180lbs and they don’t move at all, my friend who weighs about 260 also said they were way to firm. Hope this helps.
