Great tires for the price.
You generally 'get what you pay for'. In this case, you actually get quite a bit more. The ride quality and handling of these tires are rather good, which belies the inexpensive price. Tread life is only about average, and depends heavily on how hard you ride. The handling is very predictable as the tire wears, never 'going away'.<br /><br />The only difficulty was mounting the tires. Had to warm them slightly to make them more pliable to seat the bead. Once mounted, balance was decent. One tire needed no weights, the other required no more than expected.

Shinko 712's - Great tires
This is the 3rd set of Shinko tires I have purchased and they all have been great. This set went on a 1979 Honda CX500. Another set went on my 1981 Harley Sportster and the 3rd set (Shinko 777's) went on a 2010 Harley Sportster. Shinko makes great quality tires and they mount and balance easily. The traction is great on the 712's and they ride perfect. In all cases Shinko tires have been better than the stock OEM tires they replaced (much better than stock HD Dunflops). For the price these tires cannot be beat.
Seams good so far. Upgraded from a 100 to 110 and really like the look of it.
New Tires
Ordered the Shinko 712 Front and rear tire to match the sizes that came off my bike. Only thing that i didn't expect was to have to take off my front fender for the wheel to fit with the shinko tire. I already contemplated taking off the fender to complete the look i was going for. Now that it had to come off because of rubbing on the brand new tire, I couldn't be happier with how it looks. Already have an aftermarket fender in mind if needed.

Out of round
Tire is out of round. I struggled with this tire for 3 years. I have less than 200 miles on it. totally ruined my love of riding. Took three shops before someone finally figured out the issue.

Smooth quiet budget street tire
Bought to swap out my more expensive and faster wearing 50/50 tire on a v-strom 650 for a lengthy highway tour. Easy install, smooth and silent tire, enough grip for twisty touring. Nice transition point compared to my flatter 50/50 tires. Only about 2k on the tire so far, commuting use mostly. Adequate traction on wet gravel and leaves as long as I don't lose momentum.

Bought this front tire for my 2010 dyne superglide and I love it. The tire has preformed just as well as the dunlops that it came with. This is my daily driver and I've used it for work for the last few months and I just got back from a 745mile ride to Houston and back and the tire preformed so well, caught a bit of rain and I could feel a bit of issue but I think that was mainly my back tire since it was bald, and for that matter that also was a shinko and I went with it and it held well!! I am definitely a Shinko fan!

looked on-line for tires and did a fair amount of browsing before deciding to buy this tire. seemed to get good reviews from all, but the price sealed the deal for me. i am using the bike for commuting and it fits my needs well.
Go pay more for a better tire
Bought this tire because it was cheap for my Thruxton. You can feel every bump in the road and wobbles when you turn hard into a corner (scary). Although I would say this tire does last a little longer than the others. Did about 4,000 miles with them and I still have a good amount of tread left. Long life, not good for performance.

Typical Shinko good and bad
I have run Shinko tires for years and will continue to run them on my KLR, but I may be done with the brand on my street bikes. The problem has always been I have a 1 in 4 chance of getting a mediocre tire that won't balance or wobbles. The 712 is a cheap tire and feels cheap, so I won't criticize that too harshly. I mounted the pair on a Royal Enfield Classic 350 that rarely exceeds 45 mph. <br /><br />The rear tire is fine. It is round and will wear out. The front tire is unstable at 25 to 30 mph. Not bad. If I let go of the handlebars it doesn't wobble. It just feels out of balance and unsteady. I rebroke the bead and reset it with a lot of tire lube. It's about the same. I will try to rebalance the tire. In the end I'll get used to it. If I decide to replace the tire in a thousands miles I'm out $65. But no more Shinko front tires for me.

so ive put roughly 3000 miles on my set of 712's. i have no complaints, no issues other than they were a sob to get the bead to seat. id buy them again for sure!

Good rubber, good tread. But could not get the bead to set. ( No, it wasn't the rim ). Ended up having to use a tube. But other then that Ive always loved Shinkos

Fantastic budget tires, great sizes for vintage bikes
I had these tires on my 1976 Honda cb550. First of all, props to Shinko for making antiquated tire sizes, I was having a hard time finding decent options. Second, these tires actually performed quite well, especially for the price. Decent mileage and solid cornering and braking grip. These tires felt on par with some of the big names that you could pick up for twice the price.

Why pay more?
Just put 100 miles on it with not complaints. Rode 172 to Lisbon and returned using dead reckoning. That meant asphalt, gravel and dirt. <br /><br />No coplaints!
Retro looks, modern performance
I was reshoeing my '71 XS650 bobber and I wanted a tire that looked period correct but had modern performance parameters. This set of tires fit the bill. They look great on the bike. Really smoothed out the ride and my mileage is better. Don't be afraid of the low price. These are great tires.

My favorite tires. Shinko's always slip perfect on burnouts and never slip on the curves. Best of both worlds and it's basically the cheapest tire out there. Been using them for years.

Defected
Not worth the attractive low price. A seemingly defected production process (asymmetrical dye?) results in a center line which can visually be seen as oscillating while the wheel spins, and causes considerable wobbling. Two tyre shops confirmed the tyre was fitted correctly.
Shinko 712 Front Tires
This tire was easy to install. Also bought a tube and installed on my sons front spoked wheel. Works great and really grips the road in all conditions. Very happy with the purchase.
Unbeatable for the price
It's very hard to find a matching front and rear tire for my 81 CB750K, Shinko being the only one I could find. I have to say that I'm very impressed with this tire. I've had it on for about a year, which is about 8 months of riding here in snowy Ohio. I've put about 5000 miles on the front and rear set, and I'm overall very pleased with it. When I can ride my bike without ever thinking about the tires, that is what I consider a good purchase. I use this bike for commuting duties when there isn't salt on the ground, and they have been great. They perform very well in dry weather, and don't do too bad in the rain, either. I can't really speak for their max grip, as I don't push it that hard, but they have never left me wanting more grip.<br /><br />The only thing they don't like is grooved pavement on the freeway. My bike will dance around under me a bit on a particular stretch of freeway I travel regularly, but I don't know of any other tire that wouldn't give the same feel on grooved roads.<br /><br />Overall a great tire, especially for the price. These Shinkos are hard to beat!
Why spend more?
Understanding that buying cheap tires will cost your life;however, these tires are worth as much as expensive ones. Same quality and same feel. I rode 1500 miles and they still look new

New tires what can I say?
Hard to really make any big judgement on tires when they are still new. I mean they are round, black and fit the rims and so far holding air! Only 10 miles on them and not pushing the handling of this 1982 XS650 so ...............<br /><br />I left the balance weights on from the last tire change and have had the bike up to 80 mph and did not notice any vibrations other than what one would expect from a 1982 XS650 engine!

These tires have a softer rubber than the higher end tires but it gives excellent grip. I can't comment on the tread lifes as I've only had them a couple months but so far I'm extremely happy with the feel of the tires on the road. If money is tight these are the way to go!
Great tires for the price.
I purchased these tires for my Sportster after running a set on my XS360. I like how they perform on my Yamaha. They have made the Sportster handle a little better. I even love how they mark the heavy side, it makes balancing very easy. Most inexpensive tires do not include that.

Great quality tire
I was nervous about choosing the budget grade Shinko, but glad I did. The tire arrived in great condition, even had spacers between the beads. I was expecting the tire to be compressed or deformed and needing time after mounting to get back into shape. But the tire was in perfect shape, spun true, all in all a very good quality tire. It has the red sidewall marks to indicate the heavy point on the tire if you are into match-balancing your tires and rims. Only requird ¾ oz. To balance. So far I only have about 1½ hours on the tire, but my early impressions are excellent. Rides well on my '22 Triumph Bonneville T100, handles fine, turns in well. Will definitely be buying Shinkos in the future.

So far so good. I can't tell the difference between these and the more expensive Harley Branded Dunlap tire that it replaced. Way too soon to be able to comment on tread life, and I haven't been in the rain. I picked it for the price and that the tread pattern looked similar to the Harley/Dunlap tires.

I never received it because I didn't know that I had to take the tire off, so I had to purchase a MC jack and figure it out myself, in the old days you would get it done included with the purchase, everyone is price gouging!!!

Manufacturer Defect
Manufacture defect. Got the tire mounted and balanced. It bounced after leaving the shop. Never had an issue with shinko tires before. Took tire back to get rebalanced and discovered the tread is actually taller on one end. Rebalanced helped a little but still bounces. Hope as it wears it levels out before wearing out my front springs

the ride seems a little stiff, if that makes sense. I ride a yamaha Super Tenere' and ride aggressive. Seems a little bouncy in the corners, but, maybe it's just my imaganation. Igoing to change the sittings on the rear shock and see if that helps... this is my 4th or 5th set of shinkos, So they must be doing something right as I keep buying them.

This particular tire looks great on the back of my '05 955 Triumph Tiger. I my opinion it goes well with the bike's 'style. Bike also handles fine. <br />Don't know about tread life or wet traction, not enough miles since mounted. But feels great.

There are few options in the 130/90-17 rear tire size and the Shinko 712 gives me the the longest tread life compared with the Shinko 230, Dunlop 404 and the Bridgestone Battle-axe BT46 while riding mostly at highway speeds while loaded for touring.

Tire is deformed, I noticed a wobble after installation. Pit it on the stand, rotated the tire and saw the tore wobble. Rim is perfect.

Just got the tires on and went for a short test ride. Seemed good. The ones I replaced were the exact same tire that I put on 10 years ago.<br />They lasted 10 years.<br />Realy seem to grip the road.

Installed (2) 3.50-18 tires on my 1963 BSA A65 Star. I have not pushed them around much yet but the fit perfectly, look the part. My local shop does not sell the Shinko tires because of past quality issues. 10 years ago they were manufactured poorly and wouldn't balance and were wobbly. These mounted up perfectly and balanced easily without much weight and are a smooth ride on the road. I changed to these because the Heidenau K34's handle so badly on rain grooves (when the grooves run down the road parallel to the bike) on the highway unless you lower the tire pressure drastically. The Shinko 712 tread pattern is a lot like the old Michelin Macadam which handled great in these conditions. I have not been disappointed. No handling issues noted. Nice to have modern designed tire that fits on my narrow rim vintage bike. Don't know about tread life yet.

Great tires
These tires are great! They do have a longish break in, but they've performed nearly as well as the previous tires that cost three times as much. Very good in the wet. Not sure about longevity yet. Be sure to read Lemmy's review.
Stability and god price
I am no tire expert but it feels more stable in corners than the previously used Continental ContiGO tires for half the price. Will see how durable they will be.

Shipment arrived very fast...I appreciated the excellent manner in which each tire was packed to maintain the form of the tire during shipping. I was impressed with the quality and felt better about my purchase after they arrived. The tires mounted quickly but had some trouble beading to the wheel. After having them sit in the sun and soften for an hour they finally beaded and finished up mounting both. I am still breaking them in and so far I am very satisfied with the Shinko brand. If I get 8000 miles I'll be very happy.

I purchased these tires for my 1200 Sportster. I am not touring with these tires, nor am I riding aggressively. Thus I am not pushing the limits of weight capacity or lean angle (grip). So far the wear seems to be a little bit fast, but only time will tell. I mount and balance my own tires, so labor to replace them isn't an issue. If you pay to mount& balance it will be a factor. The grip seems to be adequate, but again, I am not pushing the boundaries of handling. Price per tire is great, but tire life may be a little shorter. The Sporty only has 70 hp or so, and is right at 600 lbs. With more weight or more power this may Not be the right tire! But low output bikes under 600 lbs should be fine. I'll buy them again. YMMV FWIW

The Shinko tire was easy to mount and balance and looks good, with a smooth ride, my only negative feeling about the tire is that it seems to be a bit more affected by the rain grooves on the hiways than the last tire i had on the bike.

Feels nervous on SoCal Freeways with grooves
I have had Shinko's in the past and they have been good, economical tires for me. These tires were at the right price-point and had the performance and look I was going for on my 2014 Triumph Bonneville. However, specifically for the front tire, I am not happy with how it works. I live in SoCal and many of the freeways have line/rain grooves running the direction of travel and the front tire when riding on this type of road feels really nervous. The front end feels light and wanders around a bit, and if there is a seam in the road it can pull the bike to one side. It is a bit unnerving. It is likely due to the center groove on the tire. I will not be buying this same tire for the front.

I bought this for the rear of my R1200GS Adventure to give the Anakee Adventure a break during the non adventure months. Why wear out the Anakee after Labor day and before Memorial Day when I don't take the bike off pavement/asphault? Anyway, I just got it mounted today and am extremely happy with this tire. I am looking forward to riding in the rain with it. This tire is a phenomenal buy! I do reserve the right to reevaluate after riding on very wet roads.

Ordered front and back for my Suzuki TU250 and the ride got much smoother compared to the stock tires which came with the bike. Because I went up two sizes in the rear and one in the front the tires are heavier and I might loose a few HP but the smoothness of the ride make up for it many times. Will always go with Shinko. On par with the major brands.<br />I've been running Shinko tires on my 650 dual sport and have had good results so I decided to purchase these for a Honda Rebel 250 I was selling to a friend.<br />Appears to be the same good quality I expected.<br />Handles well on the dry pavement and gravel roads.<br />Exceeds what is needed in a tire for a Rebel 250.

Well built tire for an aggressive rider! Tread is softer than a Harley tire so will not last as long but hey for 50 bucks a season I'll take it

It is an amazing tire.<br />According to a friend of mine it is about a $300 tire, if purchased at the bike shop he used to work at.<br />The peace of mind I have is excellent.<br />Absolutely worth every penny.

If you want a good solid tire and not break the bank, shinko is your tire. Easy to take off easier to install. Way more affordable than most tire brands without sacrificing performance!
cold air and goes around in a circle does what it's supposed to do haven't really put many miles on it so I really can't say much more

It makes my bike handle so much better than the stock tire that was on there.<br />From what I understand this tire is much better than some tires that sell for upwards of $300.00<br />If it's still available in a few years when I need to swap out my rear tire again, will definitely get it again.

Been using these tire's for 5 or 10 years. Its a little expensive for a Shinko tire. it should be $50 some max. But I like this tire a lot.

Total garbage
I bought a pair of these tires that were defective. They came taped together, and may have been damaged in transit. But even though I provided clear videos of the definate "flat spots" on both tires, Shinko refused to warranty them. They denied my claim, saying the balance beads I used voided the warranty (a warranty I can not find published anywhere on the web). After having bought dozens of pairs of Shinko tires, I will never again purchase one of their products. All the rest have been good, but I can't do business with a company that won't stand behind their products.

So far so good, they installed fine balanced fine have a couple hundred miles so far no problems, seems like a good grip they are for light bikes not heavy touring bikes with heavy weight keep that in mind just like they say, good price too.
Havent put any miles on it yet but was told to only run 30 pounds in tire

On my VStrom now
I bought this tire and installed 5-30-19 and here I am beginning of March and only 3300 miles and I've got to replace it.<br />I knew it was not going to do well off road but it just downright does not perform on any service.<br />It dips and pulls in grooves and is a nightmare in leaves or grass. I am ordering another tire ASAP. I would not recommend this tire for a VStrom.... It was in sale for 68.00 and I ordered it.. <br />Not again, even if it were 50 bucks.
