Great tire
I bought a rear for my 24 roadglide limited back in May and I have put 16,000 miles on it and still has some life but getting too close for comfort I will definitely buy this tire again.
Shinko SR 999 Long Haul rear tire with white wall sidewalls, sized 180/65B16 81H, engineered for cruiser riders seeking extended tread life and all-weather grip. Silica-rich compound and reinforced carcass deliver stable highway mileage and confident cornering in wet and dry conditions.
Fits cruiser and V-Twin motorcycles with 16-inch rear wheel hubs and stock or custom wheel fitment compatible with 180/65B16 sizing.
81H — rated for 462 lbs at 130 mph. Check your bike's owner manual to ensure this matches or exceeds your rear axle requirement.
This 180/65B16 size fits many cruisers, but fitment varies by model and year. Verify your current tire size before ordering to ensure compatibility.
The elevated tread depth and silica-rich compound are engineered for extended mileage in long-haul riding. Actual wear depends on riding style, maintenance, and load.
Yes. The silica compound and deep siped tread grooves deliver traction in wet and cold conditions, though all tires require reduced speed and increased stopping distance on wet roads.
Tubeless (TL). Do not use in a tube-type wheel without a proper tube conversion.

Not sure who said these don’t perform well in wet, these perform better than my old MC3s did. I have 12,000 miles on these and rode in snow, ice, and rain. I ride all year on my 2014 RG special, these tires are incredible.
Unbelievable mileage great tire for the money

Not the best tire I've ever ran in the rain but handles well!

Respect the tire and you'll be fine ? ride within your limits
Looks are 5 stars. Tire date of manufacture is less than 6 months ago. Rubber feels like they have good friction all across the surface. We’ll see this spring on the mountain roads of the Carolinas and Tennessee. Can’t beat the price, hoping for similar performance to the michelins I’ve been running on for years.
Great tire for the price. This is my second rear Shinko. I usually have to do front and rear but the Shinko front tire still looks great. I haul a Bunkhouse trailer all the time and very impressed with the handling and longevity.
Excellent tire I really like the grip cornering and when wet! Definitely my new favorite tire. Haven’t had it long enough to judge wear but it won’t be long till it will have the miles on it!
Great tires! Don't know if I would buy any of the other Shenko tires, but took a chance on these since these are a new compound and manufactured in their new factory. Have a few thousand miles on the front and rear and these are great in all conditions and show almost no wear. More traction in the twisted than I thought I would get. Way better than my Dunlop Elites!
I purchased the 999 after disappointment in the 777. (5100 miles)
The 999 looks as good as the Dunlop Elite OE. (9,200 miles)
The 999 installed easily. The 1 problem I had was a valve stem mark, missing on the tire. There was a light stamp, not at all like any other tire I've installed. Tire seated without any help device.
I'll be back to tell the mileage I get from it.
Great riding tire. I would recommend it.
Got installed on a rainy Saturday morning, thought for sure it'd slip getting out of parking lot, this tire is ALL grab, smooth riding. Looking forward to how long it lasts,
In my second set. Handle twisties very well, rain or dry, and last 6K for hard ish riding
So far very happy with wet traction. I have not have to alter my riding style with the hard less sticky tire compound. My rating will change based on longevity of them, I was getting roughly 10k to 13k miles from Dunlop E4 for rear tire.
The long hauls replaced a set of Harley Davidson Dunlop tires. These were on a 16 Road King. I was less than happy with the ride and the noise was annoying to say the least. The long hauls ride wonderful. They are responsive and thus far have been wearing very nicely. Dunlops will never go back on my bike again.
Overall a good tire. It rides a bit firmer and more controlled than the 777HD. High speed use is very linear and resists following road irregularities. They are very quiet on road. Grip seems on par with the 777HD even though it's a firmer tire. Overall behavior is better than a Dunlop 404 or Pirelli Route 66. The Bridgestone Exedra Max are a better overall tire, but at a higher price point. I'd recommend these tires for any cruiser. They are above average, especially for the price point.
They are very grippy, smoother and more touring worthy than the 777. They ride as good as a Dunlop.
Best Long Haul tire that I've used so far
Tire handles great on curves easy to put on
Tires are great so far. Only a couple hundred miles so far ,so we'll see about longevity. But completely changed how it rides
It's cold here in SD got about 50 miles on is all. these tires look great and seem to work well we will have to get more time on them I'm optimistic.
5k miles and looking good
Always had a great experience with Shinko tires.
Do not recommend for wet weather riding. Very slick in rain!
Had success with the 777. Now trying this tire.
Put one on my bike and also put one on my customer's bike. Yet to see the high mileage Shinko says it will get. Will let you know down the road.
Just installed. Did 906 backroad miles over the weekend with 150 miles in torrential downpours. Bike has ABS and TC and neither one hardly kicked in as the tires had very good to excellent wet weather grip. So far so good.
Shinko 999 handles as good as I'd hoped. I've had good results with the Shinko 777 on another bike with 15,000 miles, with hopes of getting that or more with the 999.
Running a 80/90B21 front and a 160/70B17 rear. My Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE is set up for long-distance, mile-munching duty. Traditionally, I've leaned toward premium sport touring tires like the Michelin Road 6, but rising prices have made me look for more budget-friendly alternatives. Enter the Shinko 999; a tire that's proven to be a true sleeper in terms of performance and longevity.

Current Mileage & Expected Lifespan
At 10,000 miles, the rear tire is still going strong, and I estimate I'll get about 15,000 miles total before it's time to swap it out. That's nearly double the life I typically get from a sport touring tire in the same size. The 80/90B21 front tire is holding up equally well and will likely be due around the same time, which is impressive for a $94 tire.

Performance Overview
Ride Quality: The 999 rides smooth and confidently. The bias-ply construction adds a plush yet controlled feel at highway speeds.

Cornering & Feedback: The compound strikes a great balance; soft enough for predictable cornering and solid grip, yet wears like iron over long hauls. Feedback is smooth and consistent.

Comparison: It reminds me of the Michelin Commander 3 in terms of handling and longevity, but at a fraction of the price.

Balance: One of the standout features is how well-balanced these tires are out of the box; I didn't need any weights during installation.

Pros
Price: For under $200 on the rear and $100 on the front, it's tough to beat the value. Especially when considering it lasts as long; or longer, than many "premium" options.

Bias-Ply Construction: Offers a stiff, stable sidewall, great for touring and loaded-up riding. Feels nothing like the old-school bias tires from yesteryear.

Tire Life: Honestly stellar for a tire in this price bracket.

Handling: Smooth, predictable, and comfortable on long rides; exactly what you want when knocking down big miles.

Versatility: Might even last longer on lighter bikes, though heavier ones may see slightly less life.

Cons
Cold & Wet Traction: This tire does not like cold or wet conditions, especially on a torquey bike. My tuned Scrambler with its 5:1 lbs:hp ratio can easily overwhelm the tire in slick or cold conditions (sub 40' F).

In wet or cold weather, I run the bike in Rain Mode to tone down the power and keep things manageable.

Not a Performance Tire: While it handles well, don't expect sport tire grip in aggressive riding or high-performance scenarios.

Weight: It's hefty, hard to hand mount and weighs significantly more than something in the radial flavor.

Final Thoughts
If you're looking for a cost-effective tire that delivers excellent mileage, balanced handling, and stability, the Shinko 999 is an impressive option. It's not a wet-weather warrior like the Road series from Michelin however with caution in mind it will perform well enough. For dry pavement touring and daily duty, it's a tough tire to beat for the money. I'll likely be buying another set when these hit their limit; and for the price, that's an easy decision.
These tires are great in dry weather, but I found them to pretty poor in the rain. I will not be buying them again.
Amazing tire when it’s warm , you might die if it’s wet or cold outside ! Zero traction in the rain and I mean zero !
I had been previously using the 777 and was going through them pretty quickly. Found this one looking for more milage and same performance. Got it installed and rides like a dream. The only down side I've had is I've done a 300 mile ride in sun and rain and this thing is sliding around in the rain and lacks traction on wet surfaces. Hoping it gets better
Changed out a set of 777s for the 999s in early September. Have about 2.3k miles on tires now, tread still looks like new. No difference in grip when compared to the 777s in the rain or sun. I'm really starting to love the price point of these tires!
So far they are awesome! Haven't gotten many miles yet, but have ridden in wet conditions, dry and I live on a dirt road. I'm pleased with them so far. I will post more about them when I get more miles on them. They grip the road great on the roads here in mid Missouri.
Got them mounted on my 2017 HD Electra GLIDE ULTRA LIMITED and so far after almost 2K on them they’ve been great. I just put the 999 tire on the rear of my 2012 V-Star 1300 Tourer and well I haven’t ridden more that 100 mi. on them yet but the 777 i replaced with the 999 well the 777 was great on wet or dry but it wore out in just over 5k so I’m hoping for far more mileage out of the 999’s so we’ll see if that happens.
Best tires I've riden on. The 999's rock the canyons and the highways. Best tire for the money and even better than those expensive brands.
So far so good. Love the tire profile, handles great and I like a good apex. Can’t really attest to longevity yet but first 1K doesn’t even show yet.
Tires did really well, I have to say I am impressed for the price.
I’ve put about 1k on it so far and it seems to be just as good as any other. And st an affordable price.
Bought a set of these Shinko 999 over 4,000 miles ago for my 2006 Harley Street glide and I love them! Hardly notice much wear on them and they handle awesome in all types of road condition especially in the corners! I live out in the country where I ride a lot of rough windy backwoods an these tires handle and wear way better than the Dunlop's I use too run on my bike! I also don't even feel the cracks or grooves in the road with these Shinko's unlike the Dunlop's that would get caught in every crack or groove in the road! Way cheaper too! Definitely buying these again!
I like this tire. So far riding on it holds the road pretty good. Looks very thick also.
great tire. wear nicely. no issues works as it should and will buy again
Nice it holds the ground nicely thank you
6000 miles on these and so far they are wearing well.
I am on my second set. My first set got about 13k out of them. Front was still good, but anytime I change one I change the other. I am 13k on the current set, and still can probably get to 15K on them. They have been great in most all weather. I will say that I had one instance on a wet road where I was coming to a stop, and think I felt a slip, but I am not sure. But that was when they were brand new and I was being overly sensitive to the handling. Ever since in pouring rain I have not had an issue. Regardless now I have had two sets and going on 27k miles on them and I am impressed. I will be switching back to dunlops though for one reason only. The pressure change on these during the summer is crazy. I have started the morning with 38psi front and back and these have gotten up close to 50 psi during the day on long trips. While they still feel sticky and ride comfortably, it just makes me uneasy.
Sick, they work real well on a scout rogue
By the look of the tires they look great! The design of the tracks look awsome!!
Waiting to see how they wear. I have only 300 miles on them. The price is great! Smooth ride, grabs really well on corners and take off. Over all a really great tire!
i have them on my 1994 eglide and love them.smooth ride.25k on them.so far so good.
Not happy at all. Brand new tire made it 120 miles of a 600 mile ride. The first stop at 120 miles my tire was down to 12 psi. Thoroughly checked the tire for anything I could have ran over, had the tire checked with suds for leaks or holes. Nothing. Everytime I stopped for fuel, I also had to keep adding air to my tire to make it home. The so called long haul tire didn't make it very long at all. Will not buy from shinko again. Disgusted.
Wouldn’t recommend if going on a bagger. The shops made me sign a liability waiver because the tires won’t hold up to the weight of the baggers. Wish I would’ve known this before purchasing
How they wear is yet to be seen but as far as handling it is riding a different bike..will not go back to Dunlop
I had been running the 777 on my Fatboy. Handle nice but didn't get the mileage so i switched to the 999. Had them on all summer and am very happy with grip and mileage. Plan to put one on the front this winter.
I’ve only got 300 miles on the shinko 999 and so far they ride well. I’ve been thru the curves and again they handle well.
I have had the Shinko SR 999 LH mounted on the front rim of my CMX 500 for just under 400 miles. So, not a long term review.
Strangely, I didn't care much for it the first 75 miles. The steering was different and didn't lend confidence in the tight switch corners. Due to weather, the first two rides were commuting to work and limited miles.
Once the washing of the roads ended, I was able to break the tire in properly. The twitching in the corners reduced as the tire warmed up. The confidence increased, the speed returned and the tire broke in on that 200 mile ride.
Now, I can corner as well as I could on the Michelin commander that needed replaced.
I picked Shinko's due to the reviews and the long delivery time on the Michelin. The price was nice, but not the prime driving force.
Since that break in ride, I have ridden on hot, 98°F days, heavy rain, and cool 55°F mornings. The tire is good.
I ride year round and hope the tire makes good in what comes, miles and weather.
Seems pretty good so far, they took a little longer than normal to break in and they have to have a good amount of heat before they will stick good in corners, but once they're heated up they are awesome, they have a good profile to them and handle the road well
About 1000 miles rides better than high dollar tires I have purchased
Right price A good looking tire
Good product good people
Good product good people
Great tires. Much more confidence in deep lean curves. Scraping the platforms on the big girl.
I used them on a 1994 HD Ultra. The front tire is fine we will see how long it lasts. The rear tire at full pressure is a little soft feeling. The tire I replaced was a Dunlop American Elite. That tire is very solid and I got good milage. I will try it again.
I used the 777s before and very close to the same performance. They may work better on a later model bike with a larger lower profile tire. By bike takes the 130/90B16 or MT/90B16
I have only had the chance to ride around the block with them on my Ultra Classic but as far as I can tell...they hug the road well , and a smooth ride
Really good drifting and burnout tire not really practical for every day hard riding. Pretty slippery and wet conditions.
Great looking tire, looking forward to see how it rides.
Great tires, easily beat the Michelin and Bridgestones I've used in the past.
Immediately after purchasing a Shinko 999 rear tire for my 2003 FWDWG, I went on a 1000+ mile road trip with buddies, to ride many of the great roads in Arkansas. (AR-123 is my favorite road out of the 26 states I've ridden in) the first 2 days we hit rain. Thankfully I had about 300 miles on the tire so it was broken in by the time we got rain. While I didn't push the tire too aggressively, it still never broke traction. Once the skies cleared, I was able to really push the tire through many twisty roads. I can say the after 1086 miles, this tire does very well with regard to grip. It does show some very small signs of wear (Center tread is flattening out very slightly). I'm assuming I'll get at least 5-7k out of these tires. If that's true, their well worth the cost, at $100 cheaper than the stock Dunlap.
Great tire! Wears very well.
Haven't had the chance to ride on them yet but they definitely look like some good tires. Shipping was quick as well
at this time I must say that the Shinkle 999 is performing as I expected should even though I've only had them for a short period of time I must say I really like them. I hope others have the same experience. Enjoy.
5000 miles on my fat Bob and only used 2/32
Great tire at a great price.
Only had the tires for about 300+ miles. So far, so good.
Got 24000 miles on the first one let's see what I get on the 2nd
Hands down best tires around
The tire looks very good i have not mounted it yet i don’t think i will till spring. I can’t tell any more about it at this time.
Awesome tires. Great ride and good grip.
Rides smooth and feels better handling
Great tires. Going to be buying the front one soon
nice and grippy after the break in.
more tread than the stock night dragons my bike came with.

for DIY people these were super easy to spoon on, very soft sidewall, no fear of tearing a bead.

this is obviously a sport profile tire and not a flatter touring tire, so keep mile expectations in check if you want to tour.

taken on some twisties and the grip feels great leaned over, even performed well after it rained! (yes I slowed down, don't be my mother)
Good quality tire at a fair price. My Vulcan 1600 has never rode so smooth.
Very nice tires would definitely buy again an also recommend
Just go ahead and grab a pair. You won't be disappointed
Solid tire good grip and smooth when riding
Always been a fan of shinkos
Rides great and super smooth and good traction
I have done about 1000 miles on them and like them better then the commander III. Time will tell for longevity.
So far have about 500 miles on the tire and I am very happy with it at this point. Ran American Elite front and rear and wore the rear until it was well past needing to be replaced, close to 13K miles out of it. Initially I will say the Shinko grip a little better cold when making sharp leaning turns which I have to do coming out of driveway. Also, bike seems to absorb bumps slightly better than with the Elite at same pressure. Handles great after warming up. Hopefully it'll last as long as average rear tires do.
So far so good. I was happily surprised by how quickly the tires arrived. In fact, the tire was already on my motorcycle before the "item shipped" email was rendered to my email!
Definitely Worth It. Shinko SR 999 Long Haul Tire (front tire). Shinko 712 (rear tire).
I love the 777s but they don't Last but about 6000 miles these are the same thread so if they last longer I ll be happy.
I was a little hesitant, but needed a set of tires and funds were a little low. Pleasantly surprised! Did a 1000 mile trip including some rain and did everything well. Good wet and dry grip, even with a torquey 110 CVO Dyna. Not sure how mileage will be, but the performance is enough for me to buy again.
So far I like them better than the 777's
So far it's good riding tire.
They look like very well made tires. Will find out how well they handle and longevity after I put some mileage on them.
Great tires, handle and corner awesome.
Great performance and perfect fit.
Coming back for a rear 8k miles later. Front still looks great. Wearing perfect unlike the overpriced cruisetecs I was running. Can't beat the price
So far everything is a 5tar if the mileage works out these tires will be great only have about 500 miles so far
Only a few hundred miles on them so far but they feel pretty good in the twisties... haven't been in rain with em.... so far so good
Only put 1,000 miles on it but so far the traction and ride are great.
The tire looks great. I have no complaints at this time, but I have only put about 100 miles on it so far. And none in the rain. The price was very good. Ask me in a year and I'll have more feedback.
This is the third set of Shinko tires I have purchased but the first set of 999's. The other where 777 and for my type of riding they have performed great, hopefully the 999 will perform as well
Love the tires so far. Only have a couple rides so far but the feel great.
Will find out if I can get more miles
Balanced with very little weight. Only have 200 miles but they hold well in corners and have no noticeable tire sound.
Great value for the price! I will buy another set when needed.
Had the Shinko 777s on a different vulcan, loved how they handled. Wanted more life from them. Trying the 999s. Already 1000 miles in 2 weeks and they are awesome
Didn't realize how bad my old tire was until I rode On this new one. Handles 100% better now! So far so good for this one. GYFS
Easy to mount and balance, I'll give it 3 stars for that. Time will tell if it gets another one or two. I hope it does.

Recommend with a grain of salt at this time. Hope that changes.
I am gonna go with a 5 because the damn thing looks so pretty. But I have not put tire on bike yet. We'll get back with you when I do let's hope it performs well.
So far so good. They have great road holding capability while performing well in the wet. I can't comment yet on longevity but I'm hoping they last at least one season of riding on this big heavy touring bike.

The price is pretty affordable for a decent tire. For example a set of front and rear was little more than the cost of one rear for my FLHTK using the normal brand D. If these things give me half the mileage or more of my brand D, I'll continue to rotate through these
Sticky and grippy. Breaks loose when you want it to. Super fun tire
So far it’s doing great. Haven’t had the opportunity to try it on wet roads yet. I’m really interested in seeing what kind of mileage I get out of it. Time will tell.
so far so good, i hope i get more miles out of it than the 777 i took off
My bike builder recommended this tire but I have been running the 777 and love them
Just started to ride them so not much time on them
The tire feels great. Very happy
Tire looks great, it is winter here , not much bike riding happening.
I would recommend so far. Noticed a difference right away from my old Bridgestones (16k miles). Tar snakes not as noticeable. Good grip. Wait to see on longevity, only had less than a month.
Purchased and shipped to store. Fast delivery. Took wheel to store and tire was mounted within a few hours. No discounts for Military, or First Responders. Tire rides great, on wet or dry roads. Satisfied
Good performance. Rides well. It's too early to tell how many miles it'll go. But it has a lot of tread on it
So far I'm really impressed.
My bike had 15 year old tires on it when I bought it.
The tread looked ok but they were old.
I have a 65 mile commute.
Feels planted but not difficult to turn in.
Really only have around 600 miles on it, but zero complaints. Seems to handle as well as the major brands tires, can’t say about in the rain yet. Mileage until worn out will determine a final rating. It only took one ounce to balance it, always a good sign. Pretty hard to give a good review until long term use. Four stars on tread life = optimism.
The guys at the store are very helpful and got my tires ahead of time and had them mount and balance them them seem to be in good balance and no Problem at all
It looks like is going to be a great front tire. It has plenty of rubber so it should last longer than an average. It is smooth turning no grinding feeling. It also looks good. I did a a little research, Shinko is the same as Yokahoma so this is not a bad inexpensive tire by no means. It is reasonably excellent for the price. Most important date of fabrication is only 6 months old. Buy tires that sell so your chances of getting fresh tires are high. Thanks JP for making me happy. This tire's price will go up.
Good tires...my bike feels taller, grips much better, ride is very much better.
So far, very please, with them. Nice, quiet tire haven't had them on for very long. But so far, nice ride.
Always ran dunlop tires on the front of 03 night train, no problem, 21 inch shinko made a terrible wobble at 75 to 90 3 inches on the handle bars. Ihave run them on back tire 16 and 17 inch no problems. O also purchased a wide glide with the shinko in the front has wobble above 65 in a curve, going to order 2 Dunlap tires.
Excellent quality for the money. Great selection for a hard to find size. Thanks Shinko.
the tire appears as advertised. I've not had them on long enough to know if I get any more miles than other tires.
I just mounted these on a 2012 H-D Street Glide. They have about 200 miles on them so far, a lot of it on wet roads. The grip has been great, a big improvement over the Dunlops I was running previously.

I can't rate the longevity at this point, but I'm if they get average to above average mileage, it will be a win for the price.

This is the first set of Shinkos I have purchased, and so far I'm impressed. For the price and performance I think I can live without the bar and shield logo on the tire.
