Amazing sound and performance
I have installed these slip ons on my 2015 Fat Boy Lo along with the HD heavy breather air cleaner and the Vance and Hines FP3 fuel pack tuner. What a difference in performance, looks and sound!
Right out of the box these slip ons look great, it took me all of 15 minutes to install them, it would have been less but the softails have a couple of tricky bolts that are hard to get to if you don't have the right tools...I got the standard baffle and the sound its deep and throaty but not obnoxious, after the auto tune my bike runs way better, no back fire or sputtering at all.
I liked them so much I got another set for my sportster bobber as well, I highly recommend these slipons
Great Sound, horrible to install
Bought this for my 2016 Fatboy, the method of attachment is horrible for this bike. The places where the bolts are literally has no room to do anything. The nuts are near impossible to hold in place, I actually had to get liquid weld to hold them in place long enough to get the bolts partially in. After that the space where the nuts are has little room to get a wrench in to hold the nut to actually screw the bolt in. I actually would not recommend this unit for this bike. After I finally got it installed (over 5 hours just for the bolts) it sounds great and looks great. I still have to see if the bolt system will hold.
Great Sound: Terrible Fit for Fatboy
I put these pipes on my wife Forty Eight; easy to install, look great and sound perfect. I ordered them for my Fatboy and completely different experience. Although they look good and sound good, the fit is terrible and an enormous pain in the a$#.

The Fatboy bracket is at a tight angle up against the swing arm. This makes getting to the exhaust mount bolts very challenging. Vance and Hines didn't bother to weld nuts into the brackets on the slip ons, so you have to try and fit the bolts and nuts inside the bracket, at a bad angle. It is nearly impossible to get any tool into the area. This would have been made much easier if V&H welded the nut onto the bracket like the stock pipes. I'm accomplished with a wrench and believe me, installing these simple slip ons was a nightmare.

In my mind; not worth the money. If doing it over, I would not order these pipes. I'd either order something else with a better bracket system or a full system. Note; this is specific to the Softails and Fatboy. The sportster install was much easier due to the location of the stock bracket.

Finish is typical V&H quality and the sound is good, if a little loud. But definitely Harleyesque.
Nice rumble without being obnoxious
I recently bought a 2014 Harley Fat Boy Lo and the stock exhaust had to go. I purchased the Vance and Hines 3" Round Twin Slash Slip Ons after reading a couple reviews and am extremely happy and satisfied with them. Relatively easy to put on and they look great. They have that low rumble that a Harley should have. People now can definitely hear that I am coming.
Tricky Install, But Worthwhile
I bought these for a 2013 Fat Boy. Removing the old mufflers was time consuming and tedious, as the bolts are difficult to reach. Installation, however, was a whole different story.

The stock pipes have a threaded plate that the mounting bolts screw directly into. V&H, for some reason, chose to weld a channel to the pipes, drill holes, and force you to figure out how to get the nut inside the channel and onto the bolt. The only way I was able to get this put back together was to loosen the pipes at the heads, remove the pipe bracket at the end of the pipes near the mufflers, and completely remove the mounting bracket for the mufflers (removing the passenger peg). I bolted the mufflers up to the mounting bracket, slid everything back in place, and tightened her back up. Even on the work bench, getting the nuts threaded onto the bolts was a challenge. No way it is happening while on the bike.

I am very pleased with the results. These are noticeably louder then the V&H 4" Eliminator Slip-Ons I just put on my '16 Road Glide Ultra. My motivation for this upgrade is to be heard in the Houston traffic. These will definitely fit that bill!
Pain to install
This is the 3rd set of exaust I have purchased from Vance & Hines. The slip ons look and sound great but Vance & Hines cheapend up on the install. My pipes on my slim took me 1hr to install 2yrs ago because they came with not bars. Slide them into the tight spot and thread the bolts into them!! Easy!! Now V&H gives you 6 nuts 12 flat washers and 6 bolts. Cant even get needle nose pliers in the tight spot to hold the nuts to thread the bolt. 1 person job became a 2 person job!! Took me 3 plus hours!! Not looking forward to replacing my rear tire. Be easier to pull complete exaust to get the axle out. Even the OEM mufflers are threaded!! Easy!! You should expect better from V&H. My time is valuable too!!
Looks great! Sounds awesome!
Fitment was perfect but instalation was a little tricky with the mounting hardware,if I were to do it again I will be pulling the rear tire to make it easier.
These Slip Ons look great and sound great too. I was concerned by some of the reviews stating they were too loud but after installing on my 2016 Fat Boy I am completely satisfied. They sound loud when you rev it up but are quiet enough when cruising not to be annoying. My only complaint is that I wish the mounting brackets had tapped holes for easier installation, the current design requires using a nut and bolt which is a little challenging to install in a confined space.
pain in the rear to get on but well worth it sound is awsome
All I can say is I am very happy with these slip ons, huge difference from may stock mufflers. They look great on my 2012 HD Fatboy.
awesome sound ,and better performance
Nice sounds
Loud slip ons. Dress the the bike really nice. Deep tone. Great value for the money. Would recommend as a great alternative to pricey Rheinhatrs.
I like them. A bit too loud for me and the bike backfires too much now. I’m adding some small baffles.
They sound great and are of excellent quality. My only compliant is that the stock pipes from Harley have threaded holes for the supports and V&H does not. You have to thread a nut onto the bolt with limited room of a half inch or less! Very hard to do! They would be better with threaded holes so you just screw the bolt in like Harley does. Other than that I am very pleased.
I bought these slip on because my Harley was not sounding like I wanted it to. After putting these pair of Chrome Vance & Hines my softail sounds like a dragon let free after 1000 years of imprisonment. Plus the shipping was amazing. Highly recommended it to rough riderz
Love the look and sound of these slipons but the installation was a major pain in the ass. If I had to do it over, I would have paid someone to do this install. Just getting the stock mufflers off was a challenge.
vance and hines slip ons
got them on special for $420 in australia wat a pain in the arse with the mounting bolts , used the tip of super glue to get them in place, all worth the pain sound is bliss { sorry next door } if you cant afford the full system this is the way to go shits all over screeming eagle slip ons
V & H 3 Slash slip on
Sound great and nice boost to performance.
Got them for my 2012 Softail Fat Boy Lo. Installation was a bit complicated due to lack of space to tighten bolts but once installed it was well worth it. Awesome sound. In the words of a friend: "That's one hell of a throaty sounding bike".
Very pleased with the product. Great look and great sound!

What was not apparent prior to purchase and installation was that I unknowingly removed the catalytic converters that are in the OE Harley mufflers. By removing the CATs, it ran a bit on the rough side, requiring the engine to be tuned. Harley's Pro Street Tuner isn't designed to work with CATless systems, which is why Harley recommends Screaming Eagle pipes, which have CATs. So if you go with V&H slip ons, you'll have to use something like the V&H Fuelpak with an intake to compensate for the altered airflow at the exhaust.

After the V&H slip-ons, I purchased an intake and the V&H Fuelpak and the engine runs a lot smoother and cooler now.

Consult with your dealer to determine how these parts and modifications may or may not affect your warranty.
Great pipes
The mounting was slightly tricky. The small 7/16 bolts nuts and washers with the limited space to hold them in makes for quite the task. I used window butyl tape to hold the nuts washers and bolts in place. The only other install issue was the upper pipeclamp has to be installed upside down due to the passenger foot peg getting in the way of mounting the clamp space on the bottom of the pipe. As far as looks they are phenomenal and there is no way you can muck up the placement. Beautiful matte black finish with just enough chrome flair. The sound is unparalleled. This addition to my 2015 Fat Boy Lo is one I'll not regret. I look forward to my V&H Fuelpak FP3 Auto Tuner and my VO2 Drak air intake. Highly recommend this product.

Gunny M.
Well pleased with oroduct
Overall I am very pleased with this product. Shipment was vert fast. Makes my bike a lot louder. Sounds like a Harley now.
Once on my 2014 Fat Boy Lo these were awesome in both sound and looks. The challenge came with the install. Very tight space and the V&H brackets are not the same as stock pipe mounting. I actually gorilla glued the nuts to the inside of muffler bracket so I could thread bolt into the nut. There is no way to fit your finger or wrench to hold nut while threading bolt through exhaust mounting arm into pipe bracket. Gluing nuts in place made install possible. again the sound is fantastic and they look great. I'm happy
Matte Black Baby! Chrome don't get you home!
Installation is tricky but that's the Softail design issue not the Vance and Hines design. Fit perfectly and sounds awesome!
V&H is Five Star All the Way
This is my second pair of V&H slip-ons I install on my Harleys. The first pair went on my Sportster and this recent purchase was for my Fat Boy. I'm very pleased with the quality of the product and the sound.

I have a black finished Fat Boy Lo and went with the black slip ons. I love the chrome accent at the end of the pipes. They were packaged very well and I had no problems with the delivery or condition of the pipes.

The hardest part of the install was taking the stock pipes off. The new ones went on easy and fit perfect. The only negative thing is the installation is difficult if you have big hands because it's a tight fit in limited space when mounting the pipes.

The sound is awesome, ... they are bit louder than I thought they would be. But I've gotten a lot of compliments from my buddies. They give my bike a great low rumble and I've noticed cars being more aware I'm nearby when I'm riding.

V&H is a great product that is reasonably priced. I replaced the stock filter with a high flow K&N and also used the V&H FuelPak to remap the ECM. They sound great and no decel popping or backfiring. I've also noticed a little bit more pick up.
Great look and sound poor installation design
Bought and installed these slip ons and yes they sound nice (loud) and look great. Installation was very difficult due to poorly designed mounting brackets. The stock muffler has tapped brackets so no nits are used. The V&H bracket is a a heavy gage piece of metal with a drilled hole and requires a threaded bolt, nut and 2 washers for each hole. For my 2015 Fatboy muffler attachment bracket, this design is just plain stupid, the install still isn't to spec but it had to do. Then the poorly detailed top heat shield can interfere with the clamp nut. It should have been notched to back to clear the nut. If you are considering these mufflers for your bike, look at other manufacturer's first to see if they are better detailed
Love my new slip on's. They were a little hard to get but well worth effort. They sound great
Fit my HD Fat Boy Lo perfectly. Installed by Harley Davidson service in Bergen County NJ. Required base map/dyno . Some back pressure and pops heard when shifting gears. Self installed Vance & Hines air intake filter and cover. Seemed to help a bit with popping back pressure noise but not certain of that. Overall mostly satisfied with seeming added performance and sound increase also.
They look awesome. Sad part is i have not had time to put them on yet. Will do by this weekend. I'll be sure to get back online and give a review. I'll take before and after videos with sound. Thanks.
Hard to install, look great and sound pretty good. Had I known I would still need to order the fuel programmer I would have chosen a full set of pipes. They do work well on my 2015 fat boy lo.
Great pipes
Mounting bracket uses nut and bolt to fasten muffler vs factory one that requires bolt only. There's zero room to start nut or get a wrench on it. Very frustrating. Finally gave up and had dealer install.
These sound great and are super easy to install. Although once i did install them i got a lot of popping on deceleration with the clutch engaged. Buying torque cones also called anti reversion cones or valves fixed that. And were super cheap.
Huge improvement on my fatboy lo
HUGE difference! Love these pipes!
Great sound!!
perfect fit for 2013 Fatboy lo
Quick and easy install and finally sounds like a Harley! Shipping was fast and service was perfect as always.
As expected! Great sound without being too loud for my neighbors, a step up from my stock fatboy mufflers. I'll get my neighbors used to these and then perhaps step it up another notch! lol
nice sound and not too loud
Love it, after using the Straightshot slip on for a bit. The Straight shot was just too brash and loud, even with the quiet baffles. Went to this marvellous pipe, sounds wonderful. Nice deep rumble and good volume too, nothing to annoy the neighbor with.
Love the pipes, sound great and not to bad to install.
First addition I made to my new 13 Fat Boy Lo, and it was a great one. I was struggling with the installation, so I decided to get help from a friend, who also struggled with the stock brackets. In the end my friend had to put a wrench to a bench grinder and shave about a 1/4 inch off to get it to fit in the tight spaces (we had a lift for the bike too, so we should of had it pretty easy). After installed, I was impressed with the sound. The mufflers add decent volume, and give a nice low rumble when cruising, and a nicer growl when accelerating. I asked my neighbors if they were too loud, and all said no, one even said he likes to make sure he is up in the morning before I leave so he can hear my bike before he starts his day. The biggest downside for me is the looks. I am really not a fan of having the narrow header pipes that blow out at the muffler, but in the picture it didn't seem to bother as much as it did once I mounted them. I am currently looking for a new full system, but in terms of slip-ons, these are an excellent way to go.
A huge improvement over stock mufflers!
Mufflers look and sound fantastic. Affordable alternative to a full exhaust system.
Very fast delivery great sound and great look!
Sounds great, perfect fit. Very happy.
Love the sound of my new Vance & Hines pipes on my 2013 Fatboy Lo
I wanted to retain most of the original look of my new Fatboy but wanted more Harley noise. These fit the bill perfectly with the added quiet baffles. You will need to get a different tune for the FI - I had hoped the stock ECU would handle it but nope needs a map but it sure made the bike feel like it had way more power, pulls much better too.
Jon
Can't beat V&H build quality. Slip-On's fit my FatBoy Lo perfectly and the sound fantastic. Not too loud even with the stock baffle. Only complaint was how slip-ons mount to stock bracket on bike, too many little nuts and bolts to get it mounted. Don't know if the V&H bracket would be easier but it would be something to look into before purchasing these.
