Decent Bars, But Not The Best Ever

Okay, so I purchased these bars for many reasons, style, reputation of manufacturer, price etc. Wild1 certainly promotes themselves as superior to all other handlebar companies, but I can't jump on the Wild 1 train full steam like that because of a few caveats.

First of all the powdercoating on these bars is pretty good, running the wires through them (Fly By Wire setup so very bulky on the throttle side) was not too hard if you've ever had experience pulling any kind of cabling. (i.e. data cables, electrical etc.) But I was hoping the interior of the bar would open up to 1-1/4", that is not the case, and I've been told that it is normal for fat bars to have a 1" I.D. so nothing against Wild1 there. These bars looks great once they're installed. Clean welds all around.

Now, the stuff that really disappointed me. The biggest issue was that I ended up having to shave 3/8" off the left side of the bar so that my controls would sit up against the fat part. The stock clamp for a Softail Slim will not fit on these bars. I modified mine to make it fit, included a lot of drilling and grinding. The notching for FBW, and the holes for internal wiring were not very well finished and had sharp edges which I had to clean up myself, which is a big deal for the internal wires. I feel like for a company that touts being the best, I should not have had to do this much modifying on my new bars for them to fit properly. Now I have the tools and the skills to make all of this work, but if you're reading this and you're pretty inexperienced then you may want to look at your options.

B-E-A_U-tiful

I went with the 12 inch in the best color there is (black) on my Nightster. Bars look great, better to see in person than the pictures you see online, (But I reckon it's like that with anything). They fit perfect with the stock speedo. Running wires internally isn't difficult, but its a bit of a challenge because of the 90* turn at the base. (I suggest running weed eater string through and taping the wires to the string to pull them through). All in all, extremely pleased with these bad boys. I'm a guy who's 5-7 and the 12 is perfect. If i could suggest one thing to wild one, is where the bars make that turn at the base, maybe placing a curve internally so wiring is easier. I used the Burly 12 inch cable/wiring kit and had no issue.

Now, the only reason its just a "Good" 'bang for your buck' and not a "Excellent" is because they weren't free lmao.

I also have a dyna low rider with curved apes, and if you're flipping back and forth from these and the curved apes, these are definitely worth the extra $, so many more complements on these than the curved. Really shocked you don't see them more often.

Hoped this helped and ride on

Better than I had imagined

These things are beautiful. I couldn't be happier with the bars. I went with the 12 inch in black. They look amazing on my iron. They were pretty easy to wire internally. The holes are pretty big and made it easy to run the lines. The 1 inch center section for the risers is the perfect width for the stock Iron 883 speedo bracket. I cant stop looking at them. Great bars, great craftsmanship and great price. Im surprised I haven't seen them around more often.

Simple mini apes for a simple guy

Like these way better for my shoulders than the original bars on my road king classic. Only subtly changes the look of your bike, so you don't look like you're trying to prove something with outrageously high apes. Best feature, is for me at 6', these bars are still a couple inches below shoulder level, which makes a huge difference for blood circulation in my arms, and not dealing with that fuzzy feeling when your hand goes to sleep.

2012 FLD

The bars look great on my 2012 FLD. My brother and I installed them; he’s mechanically inclines and took us about 6-7 hours. I used the stock cables and wiring. Was surprised but it works.

The bars are high quality and the finish on the chrome is great. It’s also nice that you can fit the wiring through the bars without having to pull out each wire in order to fit through.

My brother liked them enough that’s he’ll be ordering a set for his bike. FWIW I’m 5’7” and used a 3.5” pullback riser. Riding position is heaps better than stock bars.

14 inch mini apes

Got these for my 2018 Road King, love the way they look and feel. For the DYI guys out there like me , you absolutely need the wire extensions but not the cables.
