About Softail Suspension
Softail suspension spans four decades, and this page mixes them all. Early frames get Burly Softail Slammer lowering kits for 1989-1999 bikes, a Springer fork lowering kit and Wild 1 and Harddrive adjustable lowering kits. Newer bikes get FOX IFP-QSR shocks, Harddrive HLR remote reservoir shocks and Arnott air shocks written for the Milwaukee-Eight.
Forks and tubes
Fork parts are the largest group, led by Harddrive hard chrome tubes in lengths from 20.5 to 32.5 inches, plus Colony Machine stem caps, bolts and bearing kits. For damping, Harddrive offers Scepter 25 kits for 49mm forks, FOX has a Street Performance cartridge kit, and Racing Brothers lists Bishop 43mm inverted forks for the FXLRS and FXLRST.
The key for any Softail order is the frame generation. All Balls offers swingarm bearing kits for 1984-1999 and 2000-2024, and Burly lists Adjust-A-Ride kits for Softail and Touring bikes made before 2000. A part for one era is usually wrong for another, and tags from 1984 to 2026 tell you how wide this net is.
Prices begin at about $11 for a Colony Machine stem cap and under $20 for All Balls fork seals, then run through Burly shocks and lowering kits and FOX shocks near $800 to $1,100. Arnott air suspension tops the range at about $1,740, and the Racing Brothers inverted forks sit higher still.
